What is a wiper seal?

A wiper seal promotes sealing while allowing a reciprocating shaft to pass through the seals’s inner bore. They are frequently used for fluid containment and to keep dust/dirt from entering the mechanism. 

Wiper seals are regularly used in hydraulic cylinders to scrape dust and keep away moisture from the piston rods, keeping the system protected from foreign contaminants.
